ICO-FA: Static VAR Generator & Active Harmonic Filter
One wall-mounted unit that compensates reactive power, filters harmonics and can rebalance the load across the phases.
Fewer machine faults, a stable power factor and cleaner power.

Three functions in one unit
Static VAR Generator
Reactive power compensation
Compensates both inductive and capacitive reactive power (cos φ adjustable from −1 to +1). Set to a power factor of 0.98 so that it stays above 0.95 most of the time.
Active Harmonic Filter
Active harmonic filtering
IGBT power electronics cancel harmonics from the 3rd to the 13th order and bring current distortion below 5% THDi.
Phase rebalancing
Optional load balancing across the phases
Evens out the current across the three phases (up to 100% unbalance correction). Switched on from the display once reactive power and harmonics are under control.
You choose the priority. By default ICO-FA corrects reactive power first and uses the remaining capacity for harmonic filtering.
Voltage quality to the European standard
EN 50160 sets the voltage characteristics of public distribution networks. On low-voltage networks, total harmonic distortion of the voltage (THDv) must not exceed 8% for 95% of the time. When a measurement on site shows distortion above this limit, ICO-FA is the corrective measure.
Harmonic Filtering in Action
Before: Distorted Waveform
Harmonic distortion causes equipment overheating and failures
After: Clean Sine Wave
Pure sinusoidal power protects sensitive electronics
What it means for your site
Fewer machine faults
Harmonics and reactive currents are a frequent cause of machine breakdowns. Filtering them protects your equipment.
Lower reactive power costs
A power factor held around 0.98 helps you avoid reactive energy penalties.
Works with ICO-F
Installed downstream of ICO-F, it adds to the savings ICO-F measures: 1–3% more in field tests.
Simple and fail-safe
Wall-mounted in parallel with the network, with split-core CTs clipped around existing cables. If a fault occurs it stops compensating and raises an alarm, and the site keeps running.

Above 100 kvar, systems are built from several 100 kvar modules, wall- or rack-mounted. Each unit is sized from a power quality measurement on site.
